Lumecca uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to even out skin tone that may not be consistent due to many different reasonings such as:

  • Sun damage
  • Rosacea
  • Vascular lesions (spider veins)
  • Red and brown age spots
  • Freckles

Areas for use

Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment include:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Decolletage

Best Candidates:

Those with sun damaged skin, rosacea, some vascular lesions, unwanted freckles, spider veins, and patients who have not used Accutane for at least 6 months may be the perfect candidates for Lumecca. This treatment reduces pigmentation from within the skin, resulting in a more even skin tone, as well as slightly improved skin texture.

What does it do?

First, ultrasound gel is applied to the targeted treatment area to create a more comfortable experience. Treatment begins with a test spot to ensure your skin reacts properly and to ensure comfort. Once completed, treatment begins with the intense pulsed light being delivered through all layers of the skin to target pigmentation from the source restoring the skin tone typically within a series of 3 treatments, done 4 weeks apart.

What to expect:

After your first series of IPL, you may notice a darker or more apparent pigmentation spot than before the treatment. This means you’re right on track! Lumecca pulls the pigment through the surface of the skin with each session, leading to the pigment flaking. Following your first treatment, you will start to notice improvement. Results may vary from patient to patient.

Redness, warmth, and swelling may occur post-treatment, but makeup can be worn immediately! Pigmented lesions may flake off after 10-14 days post treatment, do not pick at the pigment!

  • Mandatory SPF for at least 3 weeks after
  • No sun for 3 weeks prior or 3 weeks following treatment
